So we've been planning a bit of an adventure. We first discussed and deliberated the possibility of this trip in Perks on Quinpool Road in April 2005 with a pen and a little notebook, drawing maps and throwing out locations. The itinerary has changed a little over the past year but the details are pretty much worked out and it's hard for me to believe that it's not that far away, just a little over two months.

We'll fly out of Halifax on October 5th to Mexico City, where we'll stay with our friend Armando and his family for 5 days. That will be the perfect Spanish refresher course before we get to South America. Armando has promised to be ruthless and force us to speak Spanish only. Or no cheese for us. Speaking of cheese, the guy is the slowest eater I've ever met, reflecting between small bites. His patience and metabolism are admirable. I can't wait to see him. : )

I have no way of knowing when I'll get to a computer while we're traveling, but I'd like to update this blog every couple of weeks, maybe more, maybe less -- who knows? Maybe Mike will write as well. I hope you post comments too. Oh yeah, just an editing note because it's bugging me: I would usually indent the first line of my paragraphs, but the Tab key won't do it in this program, so I'm adopting a casual attitude about it.
